What is the 17025 certificate?  What is the 17025 certificate? The ISO 17025 certificate is a global and expert standard for testing and calibration laboratories, which deals with achieving the competence of these laboratories.

What is the 17025 certificate?

The ISO 17025 standard specifies the general requirements for obtaining the competence of performing tests and calibrations as well as sampling by laboratories.

ISO 17025 global standard includes standard solutions and non-standard solutions and solutions developed by the laboratory that are used in testing and calibration.

These standards include first-, second-, and third-party laboratories and laboratories whose testing or recalibration is a part of product inspection and certification.

Application of ISO 17025  standard

In large countries, ISO/IEC 17025 is the standard that most laboratories must be accredited to in order to be technically competent.

ISO 17025 has much in common with ISO 9001, but ISO/IEC 17025 is more specific in its qualification requirements, applies directly to organizations that produce test and calibration results, and is based on more technical principles that provide benefits. It creates a lot for laboratories.

This ISO 17025 international standard is applicable to all or any laboratory, regardless of the size or scope of the tests and calibration methods.

The ISO 17025 international standard is used by laboratories to develop their management system for quality, body and technical operations.

ISO 17025 requirements for qualification of testing and calibration laboratories

The ISO 17025 standard is used by most laboratories in large countries, and these laboratories must be accredited to be considered technically competent.

Although this standard has many similarities with ISO 9001, this global standard is specific to laboratories and has more requirements regarding the qualification of direct application to organizations that produce test and calibration results.

Originally published in 1999, the standard was revised in 2005 to better align with ISO 9001:2000 and then 12 years later with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

ISO 17025:2017, which was created by the International Organization for Standardization ISO, conforms to international requirements and guidelines.

Implementation of ISO 17025  standard

If the testing and calibration laboratories comply with the necessary conditions and rules of this global standard, then they will use a quality system for their testing and calibration activities.

This standard includes all the things that are not covered by ISO 9001 requirements.

Laboratories provide customers with the best quality by obtaining this standard.

As a result, prove their competence to the beneficiary groups.

Conclusion

In general, laboratories use ISO/IEC 17025 to implement a quality management system (QMS) with the goal of improving their ability to consistently produce valid results. It is also the basis for accreditation from an accreditation organization.

Since the standard is about competence, accreditation is simply the recognition and formal demonstration of that competence.

A prerequisite for the accreditation of a laboratory is to have a documented quality management system.

The general content of the quality manual follows the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
